February

Hello everyone!
February is Science Month.
February 14th thru 18th will be Science Week.
There will be no other homework all week. You will
be given a time-line for a Science experiment,
which will be due on Friday, the 18th. All four Second
Grades are participating. We will spend all day Friday
going to each classroom, investigating all the Science
Projects. It is a great Science learning experience.

Also, Valentine's Day is the 14th. I am asking for a
Strawberry and whipped cream party. Can you bring
strawberries, whipped cream or drinks for our party?
Thank you and Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Love of Reading Week is February 7th thru 11th. I am
inviting all parents to come and read to our class. I have
sent home a request letter, but if you did not receive it,
just call me, 578-7992, or just show up.

Progress Reports will also be coming your way soon.
It's going to be another busy month!

Happy New Year!

January has blown in with blustry winter weather.
Our Second Grade is beginning with blustry enthusiasm for Cursive!
Its fun and exciting to start something new and challenging.
Most Second-Graders take to their new Cursive like ducks to water.

January will end with Dinosaur Day. This will take place on the last
Tuesday, January 25th. Each Student has chosen their dinosaur and
will assume this persona all day. They must prepare and read a Report
about their dinosaur. This Report should have pictures and at least 5
fun facts. Be creative: make Dinosaur teeth, or wear some kind of
costume, or how about a paper-mache model? The Report should
be nicely displayed, so that it can be hung or placed in the classroom.
It will be a fun, finale to our Dinosaur Unit, filled with lots of learning.

December

December is the busiest month of the year.
Our big end of the year extravaganza is our Christmas General Store.
I hope you receive a special gift from your hard-working Second Grader.
Happy Holidays to one and all!

Monday, November 8, 2010

Now it's November, a time for giving thanks to everyone.
A special thanks to all our wonderful chaperones on our great field trip.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered at the Harvest Fest.
A big thanks to everyone who donated to our fun General Store, and a
big shout out for our Cashiers!
Thanks for a perfect attendance on the 40th Day.
Also thanks for many perfect attendance days, we have already had two
popcorn parties for spelling ATTENDANCE twice!
THANK YOU - FOR ALL YOU DO!!!!!

Our Insect Unit is over. But our collection of insects will be around until
Christmas, so if you have some time, come check it out.

We have started our fun unit on Dinosaurs. This will end in January
with Dinosaur Day. On that day, every child will 'become their Dinosaur"
and share a report that tells us about the dinosaur they have chosen.
I encourage trying to take a creative approach to this. More information
will be forthcoming.

No school Thursday, November 11th for Memorial Day.
No school November 24th, 25th and 26th for Thanksgiving.

Try to come to Skate Country on Tuesday, November 16th. It's a lot of fun,
good excercise, and we could win a Pizza Party if we get the best turn out.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, Ms. Judy
